In case you missed it last night...
here's the mix I did for Phase-One Radio.

As a preview for the MEME Festival in Winnipeg, PHASE-ONE Radio will be broadcasting an exclusive new fishead mix this evening, followed by an hour of vintage material...
The new mix covers all kinds of territory, and features classic cuts on Warp, Rephlex, Distort, Bloody Fist, Minus, Basic Channel... and newer material on Modern Love, Void Tactical Media, Kranky, Mexican Summer and more...
The vintage material is expected to be a broadcast of the Systematic Destruction mixtape - in it's entirety... dark, dark, dark drum'n'bass followed by an explosive mix of hardcore, speedcore and noise.

The website for the MEME Festival went live on Friday... should be an interesting weekend, and it's nice to have an event going on in Winnipeg to serve as a focal point for getting friends together.

Snow? Wow... didn't expect that this morning.

[10 Oct 2009|02:45pm] |
it would seem that a lot of my friends are predicting the imminent demise of livejournal, due to the seeming exodus towards other sites, but I haven't gone anywhere... I've been busy with school, and some of the fallout from the trip to Detroit.
I still take the time to read, and sometimes comment, but haven't been posting as regularly as I used to... that doesn't mean I'm not sticking around, though.

Final papers have been proofread, and printed out. I debated adding some details to two of them, but decided not to... they were interesting points, but I think they would have derailed the focus of the paper. It's a relief to be done.
I'm about to head down to the cinema office to hand them in, and I just put a bottle of the Stone Imperial Russian Stout in the fridge, so that I can properly celebrate when I get home later this evening.
I'm saving the Double Bastard until the grades come back... I figure no matter what happens, it'll be warranted. I mean... if I do well I'll be doubly arrogant, and if I'm not pleased with the marks I'll be a grumpy bastard!

things that are awesome about school...
last night I watched a 35mm print of Suspiria... and tomorrow afternoon I'm treated to a film print of Eraserhead... now if it weren't for the fact that I'm expected to actually do work and write papers about all of this awesomeness... it would be... well... awesome.

Vote for Natural Disasters by choosing the woman at the far right under the umbrella and placing her into the minigames (for lack of a better word) and launching her away. Every vote for Natural Disasters is a vote for my work place, New Orleans Area Habitat for Humanity. The more votes we get, the more money we get.
You can vote as many times as you want, but voting ends December 31. We’re about 500 ahead of third place and about 6000 behind first, but if a few crazy bastards out there go and vote a ton in the next few days, maybe we can breach that first place slot.
If only a tenth of you go vote ten times, that's 270 votes. If you vote 20 times, that's 540, etc. Take a half hour and bump up our score, my lovelies!
We could get a good chunk of useful money out of this, which will help us put people into houses. Thanks.
(note: to vote, a menu should pop up with a choice of land, sea, sky, or space. pick one. it will shift the screen to a submarine, catapult, rocket ship, or hot air balloon. a row of people will appear. "grab" the lady with the umbrella with the mouse and drag her to the arrow, then let her go. it will then tell you to click a spot. click it. watch the animation. you'll have voted.)

So... tonight is the fifteen hardcore DJ battle royale at Saphir.... should be interesting.
Saturday night is Reign In Blood... which promises to be a rather ridiculous night of chaos, mayhem and fragmented beats. Haven't seen c64 since Schizophrenia 2 last year, so it'll be good to touch base with him... and I'm quite looking forward to the Iszoloscope performance...
It looks like the next few days are going to be quite exhausting, especially in light of the fact that I've still got three term papers to write before Monday...

Here's a slightly expanded excerpt from the laptop set I've been preparing... I let it play out for a bit, so it includes part of the segue into the next section of the mix.
It's not so far removed from the version I posted privately a while ago, but I've added dialog samples from a couple of films, that make it a bit more playful.

Live @ Schizophrenia 3 - sort of.
The heat and humidity were too much for the DAT machine documenting the evening, so this isn't exactly what was played that night. It is, however, a reasonable facsimile of what went down.

It occurs to me that... since arriving in Chicago... approximately 36 hours ago.... I have consumed nothing but beer and coffee.
Apparently... there was a conclusion to be drawn...
I'm totally lost as to what it may have been.
